Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using Aretic, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

Aretic is a nutrition-tracking and coaching product delivered primarily through a native iPhone app, with supporting public web and API surfaces.

The optional Aretic community is hosted in Discourse and may be opened from the iPhone app through a browser-based DiscourseConnect login. Community participation is separate from your private meal log, Apple Health data, support requests, account deletion requests, and billing records.

Optional third-party integrations such as Apple Health, WHOOP, and Strava are governed by the permissions you grant and the applicable third-party terms. Apple Health is broadly available when its permission is granted; direct WHOOP and Strava access is limited to eligible TestFlight/beta members while full API access remains pending. Connected apps that supply weight may create body-metric rows in Aretic, and saved current weight updates only when the relevant body-sync setting is enabled. Strava connection records remain governed by Strava's applicable terms, and Aretic is not developed, sponsored, endorsed, or approved by Strava. Meal evidence may also be requested from USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts, Edamam Food Database, FatSecret, or an official web document discovered through Parallel. These sources provide candidates or provenance for the same Aretic meal; Aretic's AI remains responsible for the final interpretation.

For an eligible TestFlight/beta member with WHOOP connected, WHOOP workouts, body measurement weight when available, sleep, recovery, strain, HRV, and heart-rate context are used only for that member's private nutrition experience and are not medical guidance. Disconnecting or revoking access removes the active WHOOP connection and WHOOP-linked import data from Aretic, but it does not delete the member's WHOOP account or records on WHOOP.

For an eligible TestFlight/beta member with Strava connected, direct Strava activity data is used only for deterministic private workout import, same-member linking, add-back calories, retention, deletion, and connection health. Direct Strava data and direct Strava-derived data are not used for AI operation, embeddings, RAG, analytics, product improvement, advertising, or model-provider transfer. Disconnecting or revoking access removes the active Strava connection and Strava-linked import data from Aretic, but it does not delete the member's Strava account or activities on Strava.

Automatic target adjustments are optional and must be enabled by you. When enabled, Aretic may make conservative future target changes from weight trends and recent logging behavior, announce the change in chat, and send a transactional service email with the changed target. You can turn this off, manually change targets in the app, and remove or reapply automatic changes from the target history. Those manual history actions affect future calculated targets and send service email only; they do not create a new chat notice.

3. Accounts and access

You are responsible for the email address or Apple or Google account used to access the service and for keeping your device and account access secure.

4. Health and wellness disclaimer

Aretic is an informational and coaching product. Nutrition targets and automatic target adjustments are estimates for personal tracking and coaching. They are not medical care and do not replace a licensed physician, dietitian, or other healthcare professional.

5. Acceptable use

• Do not attempt unauthorized access to the service, accounts, or systems.
• Do not abuse, overload, reverse engineer, or disrupt the product.
• Do not upload unlawful, infringing, or harmful material.

6. User content and service license

When you submit text, photos, screenshots, annotations, voice notes, corrections, nutrition-label media, or related support material through Aretic, or posts, replies, reactions, or profile content through the Aretic community, you represent that you have the rights needed to provide it and you grant DMLS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transcribe, extract structured product facts from, display, and otherwise use that material as needed to operate, secure, support, moderate, and improve Aretic. Verified structured product facts may also support exact product nutrition inside CraveTwist after all member, meal, media, OCR, and account linkage has been removed.

This license is limited to the service and related records. It does not transfer ownership of your content to us.

Community content is user-generated. It should not be treated as medical advice, official support, or a substitute for a licensed professional. Do not post private health, billing, account-deletion, or support details that you would not want visible under the community's current visibility and moderation settings.

7. Fair use and service protection

Paid access covers ordinary personal nutrition tracking and coaching for one person. Aretic is not sold as an unlimited general-purpose AI service. When usage is unusually heavy or inconsistent with ordinary personal use, we may queue, reduce, or temporarily pause some AI-powered actions.

8. Subscriptions and purchases

Paid access, when offered, is governed by the applicable App Store subscription terms in addition to these Terms. Subscription status, restoration, renewal, expiration, and revocation may depend on App Store systems.

After essential onboarding, continued logging and coaching require a current Apple subscription or verified offer-code entitlement. Annual may include a 7-day introductory trial when Apple confirms eligibility. Monthly begins at the price Apple shows for your account; pricing may vary by region or storefront. Tester free-month and partner discounted-year offer terms shown by Apple apply only to that transaction.

Subscription cancellation is managed through Apple when you subscribed in the App Store. Canceling a subscription ends future renewal according to Apple's billing rules, but it does not automatically delete your Aretic account or nutrition history. Deleting your Aretic account also does not automatically cancel App Store billing.

9. Account settings, support, and deletion

Aretic provides a narrow in-app Account Settings surface that starts with a calm feedback card and then covers account details, billing actions, support, and deletion. Display-name changes, verified email changes, Apple Health controls, third-party connection support, and User Suggestions or Support Requests are processed through Aretic-owned services. The Community action opens Discourse in the browser and uses Aretic only for the signed login handoff.

Account deletion may be offered as either a scheduled deletion window or an immediate delete. Scheduled deletion signs you out immediately, blocks new sessions while pending, and permanently deletes the account after the disclosed deadline unless recovery is approved before expiry. Support and feedback submissions may include typed text, photos, and one voice note with built-in transcription.

10. Sign-in methods

Aretic currently supports Sign in with Apple, Continue with Google, and email-based one-time login codes. Email one-time codes are transactional and sent only in direct response to your request to sign in.

Phone/SMS sign-in is currently disabled. For help with account access, email support@aretic.app.

11. Nutrition data sources and attribution

Aretic may use public, licensed, commercial, or Aretic-owned structured nutrition references as supporting evidence, including USDA FoodData Central, Nutrition5k, Open Food Facts, Edamam Food Database, FatSecret, member-submitted product-label facts, and other attributed food composition, product-label, portion-image, and visual benchmark sources. Aretic may also use Parallel only to discover an official source URL, which Aretic fetches and evaluates independently. These sources are evidence inputs for Aretic's estimation workflow and may have their own accuracy limits, update schedules, and attribution requirements. A source candidate never overrides Aretic's AI interpretation or guarantees an exact result.

Open Food Facts database data is reused under the Open Database License, individual database contents under the Database Contents License, and product images under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike when those images are used. Aretic keeps Open Food Facts-derived product records, captions, and embeddings isolated as packaged-food evidence and preserves source attribution and provenance.

Aretic may store de-identified structured product-level nutrition-label facts extracted from clear member meal media separately from account photos and meal logs. Verified, conflict-free facts may be reused inside Aretic and CraveTwist only when a later food has matching barcode or strict package identity. Product-name-only, semantic-only, visual-only, and image-embedding matches do not authorize reuse. Raw photos, OCR, meal history, and account identifiers are not shared between the products. Edamam and FatSecret content is not retained beyond the request-scoped period allowed by the applicable plan; Aretic retains no commercial-provider response, image, or vector by default. By using FatSecret-supported features, you also agree to the FatSecret Platform Terms, including its attribution and storable-data requirements. Where Edamam contributes, Aretic displays Edamam's official attribution.

12. Warranty and liability limits

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
