Fair Use Policy
How Aretic keeps ordinary personal nutrition tracking fast and what happens when usage becomes unusually heavy.
🌐 Australian English
Aretic is designed for ordinary personal nutrition tracking and coaching for one person. The policy below explains what that means in practice and how the service protects itself when usage becomes bursty, automated, or otherwise out of shape with normal personal use.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the member app, aretic.app, and the related API surface at api.aretic.app. It sits alongside the Terms of Service and explains the operating limits for paid access.
2. Normal personal use
- Logging meals from a photo, short message, or correction on your own account.
- Adding workouts, follow-up questions, and short voice notes for your own day.
- Reading your own history, coach guidance, and read-only day or entry detail.
- Using the app at a normal human pace rather than as a high-volume AI processing system.
3. What is out of bounds
- Account sharing or selling access to the service.
- Scripts, automation, scraping, bots, or bulk/backfilled logging at unusual volume.
- Repeated near-identical uploads, stress testing, or attempts to overload the service.
- Using Aretic primarily as a general-purpose AI chat tool or for commercial processing.
4. Protection states
Aretic uses queue-first protections instead of hard, sudden blocks when usage looks unusual. If more than 8 AI mutation turns land inside 15 minutes, new mutation turns may be stored and delayed for 30 minutes rather than rejected outright.
- normal: ordinary access, with no fairness restrictions.
- reduced: expensive features such as recap renders, voice transcription, and web-search-heavy paths may pause first, while core text and photo logging remain available.
- paused: new mutations return fair_use_limited until your local midnight, while read-only history, account access, and support stay available.
The goal is service quality and cost stability, not punishment. When a protection is active, Aretic should explain what changed and when access resets instead of hiding behind a generic failure.
5. What stays available
Even during reduced or paused mode, you can still review history, open account settings, inspect the current day or entry detail, and contact support.
6. Reset and help
Most protections reset automatically at your local midnight. If you think the limit was triggered in error, contact support@aretic.app or use Support and feedback and include the account email plus a brief description of what you were doing.
